First edition first printing. Hardback book is reasonably tight clean and square. Illustrated boards are toned, slightly grubby, with light bumps to corners, and rubbing to edges. There is a small section of the illustrated paper missing from the bottom corner of the upper board. The lower board additionally has two small water marks, that are surface only. The front and rear hinges are starting, but still strong and holding. Text block clean, with light toning to edges. There is a pencil "5" to front pastedown, and a previous booksellers pencil price to the verso of the FEP. The text block is still well bound, and the pages have the occasional mark, but otherwise clean and straight. The cloth spine is bumped and sl. grubby. Very good condition. No jacket as issued. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. A very good example of this scarce and collectible children's illustrated title. The Noah's Ark Book, with verses by Margaret Lavington, illustrated by FISH, and published by The Bodley Head in London in 1918. Fish was a popular cartoonist at the time. She illustrated the "Eve" books, at about the same time. Eve ran in the Tatler about a flapper who preoccupations of the elite during the deprivations of the First World War. This book has lovely art-deco style illustrations, coupled with Margaret Lavington's gently melancholic verses. A very scarce item for the collector.
