First edition thus first printing 1932. Hardback book is tight and square. Boards have sharp corners, upper blocked illustrated board has bump to fore edge, and thin area of vertical rubbing alongside joint. Lower board has three small feint grubby marks and couple of small and light red ink marks. The spine has a hint of fading, but the title gilt is bold, with dinks alongside the lower joint, and bumped spine ends. Text block is clean, with no inscriptions or pen marks, it has light toning to edges, and bump to the deckle fore edge. The top edge silver gilt bold unfaded, with a single 2mm mark. The pages are crisp with the occasional very light spot affecting the first 15 pages, and the last 10 pages. The binding is very tight, and almost feels unread. Overall a nice solid very good condition copy. The original jacket and slipcase are not present. For grading accuracy books are photographed without a protective book cover. Note we do not use stock images, the book pictured is the book described. Please note : this book is very heavy (1250g) overseas purchasers may be charged additional shipping. Please contact bookseller for exact price. A very nice example of this collectible deluxe edition, sadly missing jacket and slipcase but still a nice book for your collection. The book reproduces the Edward William Lane translation, has an introduction by E. O. Lorimer. The 12 tipped in colour plates, illustrated end papers, and a number of black & white head pieces are by Gordon Nicoll, enclosed in the attractive blocked boards.
